  • Dear Andrea;

    I didn’t spend enough time in Venice the first time around, but here is my question with a little brief comment.

    Question: Considering that the pandemic has now subsided and traveling is essentially returning to normal what would be the best time to re-visit Venice to avoid the crowds, selfie sticks and overcrowded restaurants and venues.

    Our interest is in absorbing the art and at least having a few minutes studying it. Being of Italian heritage myself, my family is from Trento, I would like to return at a time when there are the least amount of tourists.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    Sincerely
    John

      Dear Jhon, I am glad that you have decided to return to the wonderful Venice.

      Assuming that Venice is visited by tourists all year round, the most chaotic periods are definitely March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October.

      I therefore recommend that you visit Venice in November or January/February.

      The temperatures are definitely colder, but you will avoid the crowds of tourists with selfie pods and cameras, being able to enjoy a quieter stay in the Serenissima.

      I also recommend that you visit the city during weekdays (Monday through Friday) and enter the main attractions early in the morning, just after opening hours.

      The best time to visit the Doge’s Palace, for example, is at 8:30 a.m. by purchasing a ticket for priority (and early) access.

      Best Regards,
      Andrea
